Super Sweeper

Role: Primary Developer
Published: DraftKings Casino
Super Sweeper is a push-your-luck casino game, developed for our customer DraftKings, and inspired by the game Mine Sweeper.
The game was developed primarily in TypeScript with Spine animated assets. As the lead developer, I spearheaded the technical direction and implementation, building the game from the ground up using TypeScript and integrating Spine for a wide variety of animated assets.
Key Contributions & Learnings:
- Engineering in TypeScript
I designed the core structure of the game’s architecture and implemented the game’s mechanics and state-loop. The systems I designed were built for compatibility with the existing codebase and for future adaptability. My work on this game became the studio’s framework for similar games moving forwards, making it their “archetypical” tile game.
- Spine Animation Integration
I integrated Spine assets to bring the game to life with expressive animations. I developed systems for handling the animation needs of a wide variety of assets to ensure all stylistic goals for the project were met.
- Leading Development
I led the development of this project, designing the game's architecture, managing task pipelines, and coordinating with artists and designers. I ensured technical feasibility aligned with creative goals, as well as set and maintained our milestone goals for the development side of things.
Impact:
Super Sweeper was a deep dive into system design and animation development. The project sharpened my skills in TypeScript and Spine while reinforcing my ability to set and maintain milestones to deliver polished and engaging gameplay experiences.
