The nervousness and excitement races through you as a you walk through the spaceport. Finally, a real job as a ship’s mechanic! You look at the names of the ships as you pass them, Aurora, Calliope, Diplomat, Agamemnon.
“Ah here it is, Queen's Grace!” you think to yourself.
It’s an old ship but she still seems to be in good condition. You spot a man standing by the gangway of the ship. You remember him from your interview. David Marlin, the ship’s captain. You begin your [[approach]] to the ship.

Following the captain onboard into the cramped ship he begins explaining the ship as you make your way through.
“Here we have the cargo hold. Not much in here for you to keep working other than the door. Marco is usually the one in charge of the cargo.” He looks around, “Doesn’t seem to be here right now, probably in his bunk.”
You slip out of the cargo hold through a narrow door and into a tight corridor.
“If you stick your head into the left you can see the mess in there. You’ll probably want to coordinate your meals with the rest of the crew since it’s hard to fit more than two in there at once.
“Over on the right you’ve got the washroom. Down this way is the [[crew quarters]].” He pauses for a moment, “You should probably go put your stuff in there before we continue.”

“I’m Sasha.” You say offering a hand to shake. He shakes your hand.

He turns back to you, “You can go poke your head on in there and say hi to our helmsman and comms officer.”
As you look in you see a scrawny young man who might as well be skin and bones, and a woman built like an Amazonian.

“I’m just making sure there’s no security concerns in here captain.” he replies hastily.

“Kind of. A ship like this requires 24/7 maintenance and I need to take time to sleep. Leaving the ship on its own for 8 hours is dangerous.”
“Then I suggest you learn to sleep in smaller chunks miss Karnov. Or is should I go and hire someone willing to put in the hard work to be a ship’s mechanic?”
“No, no. I can do it. I just wasn’t expecting to be alone in it. That’s all.” You say trying desperately to keep the job you had spent so long working to get.
“Good. Then I suggest you get well acquainted so your work can go faster.” Replies the captain in an almost patronizing tone as he turns and leaves.

“What!?” Shouts the captain, “What of the cargo!?”
“Some of it likely has or will fly out the hole. The big stuff is probably still there.”
“Unacceptable! Get back in there and fix the hull!”
“I can’t!” You explain, “I can’t fix it while we’re still in space.”
